However, stress can develop into a permanent state and then it becomes dangerous for your entire health and normal life.

Stress can be of two types: positive and negative.

The first form – eustress, can be caused by both positive emotions (positive) and negative events (mobilizing).

In this state, a person is aware of his problems, his condition. The body mobilizes and focuses on completing tasks. This happens under the influence of adrenaline and other related hormones.

The person becomes more active. He successfully copes with the assigned tasks at work and at home. But the resource of the human body is exhausted. Long-term negativity leads to a destructive form.


It drains the nervous system and destroys the body. Mental activity suffers, our performance decreases. Stress targets the immune system and hits it. The body becomes vulnerable to various diseases.

Distress – grief, suffering, severe malaise, exhaustion.

Distress is divided into several subtypes.

Physiological stress

Physiological stress arises as a response to unfavorable internal factors, unmet physiological needs. They can be pain, hunger, thirst, abstinence. Negative environmental conditions also contribute. Cold, constant noise, air pollution becomes stress for us.

Emotional stress

Our emotions can cause stress too. Emotional stress is one of the most common types of stress. Even happy events cause distress. It’s all about prolonged emotional stress. It ultimately leads to psychological and moral exhaustion.

Short-term stress

Short-term stress occurs as a response to a sudden strong impact. It manifests itself as fright and other reactions. It usually goes away quickly and has no consequences, but can be profound and traumatic.

Chronic stress

The most severe and dangerous type is chronic stress. Negative factors constantly affect us. A person does not notice them, they become a “background”. However, in the end, this “background” leads not only to nervous exhaustion, but also diseases, depression, and a general decrease in the quality of life.

At this stage, the person effectively copes with the overexertion. A person is able to analyze and look for optimal ways out of the situation.


When a person’s internal resources are exhausted and there is no reserve for recovery, the third stage of stress begins. At the same time, a person feels tired, apathy. He loses interest in life, gives up and does not resist stimuli. Internal emptiness can develop into physical illness and mental problems.

According to the International Health Organization, every third worker in Russia experiences severe stress at least once a week, and 13% – almost daily

Causes of stress

The main cause of stress is the situations that provoke it, they are called stress factors. Given that the life of a modern person is dynamic and unpredictable, there are a great many reasons. Constant troubles, misunderstanding of loved ones, running stresses at work, breakdown of household appliances or a car, and just daily worries. All this provokes irritation and anxiety.

Sometimes the lack of change, routine and groundhog day can be the main cause of stress. Each person has his own individual psyche, which is an annoying nuisance for one, for another cause of stress.

From mild irritability and self-doubt to reduced strength and motivation to act, severe malaise and depression. That is why it is so important to understand your condition and be able to recognize the symptoms of stress, and, accordingly, in time to direct forces to overcome it.
